  • Sam Kim

Sam Kim carries the title of Cinematographer as a badge of honor and as a heavy, welcome burden. As filmmaking ultimately becomes more and more democratized and consumes every minute of the day, Sam fights to keep the integrity in his images by being respectful to the script first and foremost, treating his audience with respect, and challenging the subconscious with images. As an alumni fellow from the American Film Institute and mentored by some of the greatest Cinematography teachers of this generation, Sam moves forward in this industry to keep bringing truth and meaning into deeper layers of his work. Winning the Grand Jury award in the Nanjing, China International Shorts festival for his short film, Sweet Memory, and playing in over 50 festivals internationally with the short film, Six Letter Words, he’s humbled by the reactions of those sitting in the seats. On his off days he prefers nothing better than a simple day with his wife, two kids and a cup of coffee.
